Pinoy Street Food #11: Letchon Manok (Roasted Chicken)

As I mentioned on my past blog entry prelude to Pinoy Street Food I will make a blog entries regarding "pinoy street foods" and I will create the succeeding entries in this meme so do please visit every Friday and the Food Friday Meme.

My featured menu for today:
Spit Roasted Chicken

As promised my roasted food galore is now back online. i decided not to post this last week since they say that chicken for new year is bad luck due to the chicken's nature of salvaging food "isang kahig - iasang tuka".

This readers is Charcoal roasted Chicken - locally known as "Letchon Manok" - merchants season the chicken basically with calamansi, soy sauce and ground black pepper. other seasoning vary from one merchant to other. the basic ingredient are the most commonly used plus they stuff the cavity with lemon grass. and/or banana and sampaloc leaves :)

Other Merchants too have roasted Pork Belly (Letchon Liempo) as an alternative or part of the menu. When you buy this they include gravy, soy sauce w/ chili pepper and Calamansi, and if your lucky, they add atchara (pickled papaya) for free.

This is the most common sight but in malls insted of Charcaol grill, they now used oven or roatisserie. w/c ill feature next time :)

I miss that a lot, lately nagcrave ako sa Andoks kaya eto, isang buwan na halos 2 beses sa 1 linggo ako nagtatry...the lemongrass is definitely the secret to a good tasting lechon manok! Naku naimagine ko ang bango nyan pag dumaan pa lang sa harap....haay!

Your entire blog, from the heading banner above to your posts, has me salivating. I miss filipino food! I just can't seem to cook it the way mom does. I'm going to track your blog, oh yes I will. I might not be able to eat with my mouth, but I can definitely eat with my eyes!
